She's filling up!

Just a quick update…..

Some FINDS have arrived at the Warehouse ...

Ready and needing to be made over a bit before they are FABULOUS……

 

 

 

Don't you just love this silly shape???

 

Nice large flouncy floor lamp - love it!

 

2 cain back chairs...ready for a make over!!

 

I got these great finds at an auction..

 

 I am a complete AUCTON JUNKIE!

 

I have a few odd pieces in my home that come with bizarre stories of 'BIDDING GONE BAD'.... to prove it...and don't EVER ask my husband about it...he'll give you an ear full:)

 

(Well.... now that my favorite auction has gone "online'...

I can bid from the comfort of my chair...that really is NOT a good thing!)

 

These babies will probably each receive a nice fresh coat of paint...new fabrics.... and find themselves a nice little home in my area of the Warehouse....inviting friends and clients alike to plop their hinnies down. I CAN'T WAIT!

A GRAND OPENING poem by *Yours Truly………

 

The Grand Opening was such a riot…..

We slept very little, and hoped you’d * buy-it……

 

We painted and sweated,

We glued and betted…

That we’d throw open the doors....

 And you’d love what you ‘gett-ed”….(lol)

 

That you’d come in droves, to our quaint little shop…

That all the colors would make it pop…

That we'd make it to the end, before we dropped…..

 

All was accomplished….

All was achieved….

We sure had fun…and hope you were pleased!!:)

 

 Pitiful I know….. but I had a little goofiness in me this morning, and hopefully that got it ALL OUT!!

Yes...we live in Texas...we must have ONE cowboy picture on the wall.......

FABULOUS FIRST!!!

  

WE DID IT!!!! Warehouse Artchix is a real place now!  Taken from a dream to reality....after lots of hard work and blood, sweat and tears (really!!!!), it is now a real deal!   We are located at 211 N. Dooley, here in Grapevine, Texas.  We are open by event or by appointment. Please feel free to email us for information. Our first sale was August 8th and WOW! What an event it was! 

The day started out with a backdoor visit from one of our greatest blog fans:

  

Ms. Debbie Merten joined us with a cheerful hello at the warehouse backdoor, she was our first guest and how appropriate since she had been following our blog and was a fan of Deb's artwork! Debbie M. you made us feel awful special, thanks so much!!!  Then the guest started arriving in droves....we were absolutely blown away by the turn out...it may take weeks and weeks to show it all and tell it all ....just a FABULOUS First SAle!!!

 

Lets see if I can give you a picture tour and introduce you to some of our special guests~~~

Here are the actual Warehouse Artchix out front and center with our handpainted sign...Deb Johnson on the left, Sandra Feazel next and Gigi Ewbank on the right...amazingly we were put together and smiling after so many almost all nighters that we put in to make the event happen!!! 

As you entered the front door, you were greeted by a youthful vignette of cupcake art and hot pink and black girly accessories..then as you proceeded in..there were big pink plumes of hand dyed feathers popping out of a tall floor vase, then on to swirly black iron garden chairs filled with fun pillows and set side by side with a double washtub painted in leopard with whimsical roses!  Can you just see the garden party where these can be used!!!

 

  

Fun little chalkboards are tucked in vintage frames...

retro was right next to bookcases filled with funky finds and art....

and this is just one wall of goodies....as you turn the corner you find...

handpainted letters, a cottage rose painting that would look right at home in a beach cottage or in a sunny spot...iron wall sconces...Oh there is just so much more to show you...this will just have to continue all week long...so many pictures and so much to show...stay tuned for more...I promise I will keep posting this week as I set my alarm early to adjust to a back to school routine for the weeks ahead!!!  But hopefully this first post gave you a feel for what we have spend our last few months preparing for....a wonderful, creative, whimsical place for all out viewers to come and shop and see...with the chance at taking home a special treat that is handmade, one of a kind, or vintage ...but definately hand chosen by the Warehouse Artchix!!! THE WAREHOUSE ARTCHIX~~~~ Deb, Gigi and Sandra

Coming ALIVE......

So – I feel like I should almost re-introduce myself since it’s been sooo long since I’ve posted here – WOW!!

 

So here I go…I’m Debra….and I’ll tell you a little bit about myself!

 

I haven’t slept in nearly 2 months as we’ve been working on our new adventure….an actual physical location – A WAREHOUSE for the Warehouse Artchix to do their THING out of!!

 

SSOOO EXCITING!!

 

I have 2 children  ~  1.5 year old and a 12 year old…they think their mother is nuts…checked into the funny farm…lost her mind. * And they are correct*

 

I have a husband…that I haven’t seen in 2 months…other than to do his underwear and wash out the coffee mugs. But I know he loves me dearly and is always willing to embrace his wife’s craziness – I love him for that.

 

I had a life….now I have two.

 

One lived in the daylight….the other lived in the dark.

 

One at home, with crayons, sippy cups, and teen chatter……the other lived at a warehouse, with paint, and caffeine.

 

They do blend together about dusk…as I transition from MOM to PAINTRESS….(* it's not a 'cool' transition though, like when wonderwoman spins around and dons her golden lasso and cute boots. Mine consists of smelly tennis shoes and bad shorts.......)

 

One wears an apron for cooking and cleaning…the other wears an apron full of paint stains…

 

But BOTH are….outrageously excited…..(tired)…..brimming with ideas….(tired)……and WONDERFULLY FULL of CREATIVITY. (*and tired)

 

Sandra gave you a sneak peek of the front of the newly renovated space…now I’ll give you a peek at the back….

* I flew my FABULOUS sister in town (she's a muralist) to help us get it under way - **could not have done it without her!!!

 

I have the BEST girlfriends.....they came in 100+ heat to help me paint and rhinestone this wall!!

Every warehouse needs a big pair of LEGS hanging down from the rafters!! At least -  I think so....

 

So there it is....a little makeover in progress.....

*Not done...but on it's way.....

 

Gigi is in the middle of painting an "oh-so-cool' sign out of old bed post for us....
