See the image here....this is what I get everytime I try to download images on this blog....please feel free to visit me on my other blog www.7thststudio.blogspot.com ...for some updates and pictures. Because what is a post without pictures! And wouldn't you know that this is happening right when I feel the urge to get back to blogging! FRuStRaTinG!!
www.7thststudio.blogspot.com that is where I will be!!!
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome....that is all I can say!!! And I am describing the people, the talent, the hospitality, the sponsors, the teachers, the coordinator, allllllllll if it was Awesome!!! Or to quote Cindy M...."Wicked Cool!" Here are just a few of the pictures from the event...
We had swaps to share and friends to meet. These are the cuff swaps that I joined in on....I met and traded cuffs with Candy Holberg..aka "Hiney" Holberg( long story but a funny one! and of course it involves Jan T.!)
and here is a picture of Candy and I....our cuffs matched our outfits perfectly! She made me the most awesome cuff using lace from a vintage dress of one of her relatives...go to her blog to see the picture of the original dress www.rockcandy.blogspot.com
And since I can never seem to add more than three pictures before typepad goes haywire...here is a picture of "sister" in my painting class. I hate to admit it, but I am terrible at taking pics, I seem to like living in the moment and forget to snap the pics to save it for the future! I do have a few more to post, but will save those for the next few days! I only hope everyone at the PC event had as much fun as I did! I am still smiling when I think of it, days later and back to everyday life...it makes me so happy to think of!!!
Spring just makes me want to break out the paints! I think it is all the beautiful colors, all the flowers blooming....especially since flowers are one of my most favorite things to paint. I just delivered the painting above this last week, a layered mix of collage and paint. It is so fun to experiment with all the lovely papers that are available now....I probably buy as much or more of the scrapbook papers as any avid scrapbooker. I cut it up, tear it up, work it into backgrounds...just makes me drool when I see new papers! I just recently had to buy more things to store my paper in....and that is hard, because I want to see it all, it inspires me. I wish someone would come up with a clear sleeve system that hangs and can revolve to hold hundreds of papers....then I could easily go thumb thru...you know kind like the rug displays that some stores have. Nope, not that one, oh yes, that one...and then I could create more with paper!!! If you want to see some interesting things done with paper, be sure and check out the Paper Cowgirl Art Retreat to see how other artist get creative with paper. I think there may even be a few spaces left in some of the classes. There are some great ones this year, and the group of creative women signing up looks to be just as awesome! Check it out here www.papercowgirl.blogspot.com, the classes are highlighted on the right hand side, and the interviews with the instructors are pretty interesting to read too! Well, I am off to paint some more...hope everyone is feeling as painterly as I am!!!
One of my favorite blogs to check out is www.lisakaus.blogspot.com, she is an adorable artist and her work is so fun as are her little peeks into her home! Well, towards the end of the year, she was hosting a blog give away, I entered, like I have so many times on so many blogs....and guess what??? I won, not long after that I got an email from Lisa telling me that I had one and a treat filled box arrived at my house!!! But also, about that time, my camera went on the blink....kept telling me that the card was locked. Well, thankfully I finally sat down and read the manual (funny how that works!!!) to find out what to do. Did you know that the tiny card that is in your camera has a switch on the side of it??? Well, it does, and it can be switched into a lock position, or unlocked....AMAZING! now the camera is back to working, I need to catch up on so much!!! But the biggest thing is the INCREDIBLE GOODNESS that came in that box to me from Lisa! How will I ever thank her enough for all of this?
She gave me the Somerset Calendar for 2010, featuring her art doll on the January page-
She also sent two of her mini prints on plaques with these scrolly wire hangers! TOO CUTE! An adorable thank you note, a notecard of one of her prints...and all this was wrapped up and sent special delivery!!! The calendar has some great images in it, features some incredible artist and even gives the deadlines for submitting art to the Sumerset Publications! Lisa, it is a real treat to just read your blog and see your work, but to get some of them in the mail, well that was the best thing I have had happen in a long time!!! Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!! I wish you a fabulous year in 2010, with much great art to fill it with!!!! I have more images of the pieces that Lisa sent on my personal blog: www.7thststudio.blogspot.com go check them out in detail!

Just a little post to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving holiday! May we take the time to spend with our family and friends, and remember to thank God for all the blessings he has bestowed upon us! It was a beautiful day here in Texas, the sun was bright, the leaves were all lit with colors of the changing seasons....and the table was set to share the feast with our families! Had to share the tiny pumpkin topiaries that were at each place setting, adding a little color and fun to our table!
Now if I had just remembered to snap a few of the delicious food before we gobbled it all up! Happy Thanksgiving to each of you, may you be ever so blessed in this season! -Sandra
