The chix are at it again! We gathered tonight at the warehouse for our usual dose of creativity. Debra set the challenge...bring a chair, your paint and your favorite quote. Cari, Sandra and Debra showed up with cute chairs and began the project...Cari's was pink and black and spectacular from the start:
She is thinking the seat would be fab covered in black and white zebra stripe or black and white check...can't wait to see the end results here!
Debra's chair required a colorful base-coat before being embellished:
Sandra's chair was one of a set...a very old his and hers chair. She began with a layer of collaged vintage sheet music and pretty papers, and then handpainted scroll work and a little window of chalk board paint so the title of the person sitting could be changed.
Her chair was already base coated in black and recently reupholstered...so she went with a black, cream and red color scheme.
The back has a New Orleans feel, with a man playing a sax and harlequin paper.
A little scalloped paper and some painted stripes in red and cream...just waiting to be antiqued with a layer of glaze.
Stay tuned to next weeks results for the "sit and say" projects! Can't wait to see the end results. Also, check out www.Lemoncholys.blogspot.com to see her version , I think she is joining in on the fun. She has some wonderful pictures of her work in a slide show...very inspiring. Coming soon, the results of the dress swap ( see side bar for details). Heather sent an email today to say that she is sending hers out now, and I will send mine her way on Monday. Swaps are so fun and a way to meet new blog friends and be challenged to create with a theme! Also, if you have not checked out www.onehundredwishes.com and www.Flightsoffancyboutique.com for some incredible embellishments and their designs ! So fun to see what everyone is creating!!! Have a great weekend and spend time creating with your fellow artist!! or at least play a great CD and just escape the world and create a beautiful piece!!! post by- Sandra Feazel
really cool! the chairs are awesome. you did great working around the upholstery. i didn't get to work on my chair, as the chair i was going to use is missing! either i moved it and am using it for something or my husband threw it out (most likely scenario!). will hit the flea market tomorrow to find another chair!
